Dan Fox
FOUNDER & MANAGING PARTNER
Dan Fox founded Fox Legacy Partners to acquire and operate a lower middle market business in the business services sector. His path to entrepreneurship has been shaped by both personal experience and professional preparation. Growing up around his grandfather’s industrial distribution company, Dan saw firsthand the dedication required to build and sustain a successful business. Those early experiences inspired a long-term goal of becoming an owner-operator and carrying forward the legacy of a great company.
Throughout his career, Dan has intentionally developed the skills needed to lead a business. He began at KPMG, where he specialized in business valuation. He then joined CDK Global, a leading provider of automotive retail software, where he worked on corporate development and mergers and acquisitions. Most recently, Dan was an investment professional within TPG’s lower middle market direct lending platform, where he underwrote more than $1 billion of investments and actively managed a portfolio exceeding $590 million.
Across these roles, he has worked closely with founders and business leaders across distribution, business services, industrials, technology-enabled services, digital marketing, software, and food processing businesses, gaining a deep appreciation for the operational, financial, and strategic challenges business owners face. Dan earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
BEYOND THE WORK
Outside of work, Dan enjoys staying active and spending time with family and friends. He has traveled extensively and enjoys the outdoors, golf, and staying active through running and exercise. Winters bring trips for snow skiing, while summers are often spent water skiing on the Fox River with family. He enjoys hosting friends and family, catching a good movie or comedy show, following his hometown Chicago sports teams, and staying involved in his community through volunteer work.
